I am native Oregonian, happy wife and busy mother of two.  My son was born in hospital when I was young and single, and feeling pretty lost.    Ten years later, my daughter was born with an incredibly healing and empowering home waterbirth with a midwife. So, you could say I have experienced those two ends of the spectrum.  Even though in many ways I had a lot of support from friends and family, looking back, I know that if I'd had a Doula during my pregnancy and at the birth of my son, and in the days postpartum for guidance and support, it would have made a world of difference.

I believe that the experiences of pregnancy and birth can really flavor and influence your confidence in parenthood and your relationship with your child and how your family adjusts.  In order to make the choices that are really right for you and your family, you have to first *know* what those choices are.   So you can make the best possible decisions for you, I want to make sure you know all of your options.

Along the way of my life, I have followed a wandering path of discovery and growth that has deepened my fascination with the wonder of birth, as a sacred and magical rite of passage and transformation in life.  I believe every woman deserves a chance to trust her instincts, and to birth as free from fear as possible.

In 1999, while attending Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, I did some volunteer work for Barbara Harper (author Gentle Birth Choices) at Global Child Maternal Health in Wilsonville, helping to prepare for the first International Waterbirth Conference.  After that experience, and attending the conference, I knew that water birth was for me!  In 2001, I found I was pregnant with my daughter and my studies at OCOM were put on what became a permanent hold when she was born.  I knew I would never finish my work there, as my heart was ever being pulled toward birth work.

I completed my Doula Training through Birth Arts International in April, 2007.   I am a member of MaternityWise, Waterbirth International and CAPPA, and I'm currently working my way towards both Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula certification.  I am also pursuing midwifery studies via Ancient Art Midwifery Institute.  I am a volunteer doula for Operation Special Delivery, an organization through CAPPA providing doula services to military families.

I currently provide both Birth/Labor Doula services as well as Postpartum Doula Services.
